BERVA moped, 49 cc, 1961

BERVA moped, 49 cc, 1961

With the engine and pedalling combined mopeds were proven both practical and popular machines.
The BERVA moped featured a 1.5 HP engine and 2-speed gearbox designed at the Csepel Motorcycle Factory, and produced at the Shotgun Cartridge Factory in Székesfehérvár. Overall design, production and final assembly of the BERVA, however, took part at the Finefittings Factory in Eger. The final result provided a contemporary solution with the use of modern lightweight metals. The front wheel suspension adopted a short swinging arm with undamped telescopics. The model had an overall weight of 55 kgs, with front and rear lights, and offered a maximum speed of 45 km/h.
Between 1958 and 1962 more than 60 thousand of these popular lightweights were produced.
