From initial production in 1923, the Méray Motorcycle Factory Plc was the first company in Hungary to manufacture motorcycles under series production.
Although production generally featured imported engine and gearbox units, during the 1930’s Méray introduced a series of four-stroke engines of original design. The Méray-Puch 200, however, was developed in 1934, in agreement with the Steyr-Daimler-Puch Works, in Graz, Austria. The very successful Puch single cylinder twin piston two-stroke engine design offered a 6 HP output to the unsprung rear wheel through a 3-speed hand change gearbox.
Méray motorcycle production ceased with the outbreak of the Second World War, and German occupation of factories to meet military requirements.
